The game's graphics are quite unique, consisting entirely of orbs - this, and the occasional humorous moments together make Ecstatica a peculiar, but nonetheless charming game for anyone interested in a truly oldschool adventure. The story is set in the 10th century as you come across a mysterious village and decide to investigate. The game itself will be quite easy to get used to for players already familiar with the Alone in the Dark series: Ecstatica is a survival horror/adventure title, with the hero wandering alone in the town, trying to solve puzzles, find items, and occasionally evade the monsters that attack him. This 3D horror/action/adventure game was heavily influenced by the Alone in the Dark series, and it shows.
As the hero, you set out on your newfound quest of solving the mystery of the town, all while trying to survive in a harsh, uninviting environment - as you soon find out, the monstrous inhabitants of the town do not take kindly to the arrival of an intruder to their domain, and they will take every opportunity they get to silence you permanently. The only bridge leading to Tirich is destroyed: you are stuck in the eerie town alone and helpless. As a lone traveler, you arrive to the town of Tirich - a seemingly abandoned place that, as soon revealed, is inhabited by various kinds of monsters and demons. Ecstatica, a nearly forgotten classic released in 1994, takes you to the darkest corners of Europe in 928 AD.
